Birthday Wish






For birthday -
my mate told me -
I'd like to take
a ride on the
merry-go-round
before we are too old

So gladly we went
for a ride on the
merry-go-round
going round and a-round
joyfully reversing necessity
if only for a while
going back as we went forward
going forward as we went back
just going a-round

getting slightly dizzy
trying to keep our balance
holding on tight
enjoying this circling
endless ambiguity
a light breeze on our face
feeling like being free
everything demanding decision
as if suspended for the time being

Happy to be going a-round
for one more ride
on the merry-go-round
before we are too old
to go for a ride
on the merry-go-round
